Somatic Coaching

Somatic coaching uses the intelligence of the body to help you get unstuck, make aligned decisions, and create change that actually lasts.

Coaching Vs. Therapy

Not sure whether therapy or coaching is the right fit for you? You're not alone — the line between the two can feel blurry. Here are some important distinctions to consider:

Coaching is not psychotherapy, does not include diagnosis, treatment plan, or medical treatment.

Coaching and psychotherapy are entirely different professions and should be treated as such by those who wish to work in either or both capacities.

Coaches must understand that having the education and training of a psychotherapist does not authorize one to engage in the work of a psychotherapist.

Not sure where to start?

Coaching does not equal psychotherapy

A licensed therapist can operate in the “coach” capacity. It means they aren’t providing psychotherapy and limit scope of practice to coaching. They can’t flip flop roles with clients.

Therapists must be licensed in the state where their client lives. There aren’t restrictions for coaches.

Usually if a therapist is offering coaching, it’s to work with clients out of state, who moved, or they no longer align with the psychotherapy model but want to provide mental health support in another less formal and structured capacity.

Coaching does not follow a medical model. No mental health evaluation or diagnosis will be given. Psychological assessments cannot be interpreted. Formal treatment plans can’t be used. Medical, clinical, and therapeutic services will not be offered in coaching. Insurance cannot be billed. Emotional support animals can’t be prescribed. There is not a client protected relationship in coaching: confidentiality isn’t protected, dual relationships, and other ethical standards aren’t set or enforced.

High risk needs and related concerns are not appropriate for coaching level of services.

Meaning if you're dealing with suicidal ideation, self-harm ideation or behaviors, psychosis, active substance abuse, active eating disorder behaviors, you need to see a therapist, or a therapist in addition to coaching.

If a diagnosis or higher level of care is required, referral should be made to have it assessed and treated by a licensed therapist.

An ethical coach should refer you to a therapist for mental health conditions that meet a level of severity meeting a diagnosis and that need specialized treatment model.

Coaches cannot practice any form of psychotherapy.

Who Coaching is a Good Fit For

Somatic coaching is a good fit if you're in a relatively stable place in your life but sense there's more available to you — more clarity, more ease, more alignment between who you are and how you're living.

You might be a good fit if you:

  • Have done therapy before and are ready for a different kind of support

  • Live outside of Massachusetts and can't access therapy with me

  • Are navigating a life transition, decision, or creative block that feels stuck in your body as much as your mind

  • Are curious about psychedelics or integrating a recent experience

  • Want to work on nervous system patterns and trauma that are getting in the way of your relationships, work, or sense of self

  • Are drawn to somatic work but aren't sure therapy is the right container for where you are right now

Coaching is not the right fit if you are currently experiencing suicidal ideation, active self-harm, or a mental health condition requiring clinical treatment. In those cases, working with a licensed therapist — in addition to or instead of coaching — would be the more appropriate level of support. If you're unsure whether coaching or therapy is the right fit for you, I'm happy to talk it through during a free consultation.

What to Expect from Somatic Coaching

Somatic coaching sessions are 50 minutes and can be held in person or virtually, making it accessible wherever you are. We'll typically meet weekly or biweekly depending on your needs and goals, and sessions are available both individually and in packages.

Each session is collaborative and fluid — there's no rigid agenda. We might track a body sensation, explore a pattern that keeps showing up, process something that's been sitting heavy, or work toward a specific goal you're holding. The thread running through all of it is the body — using its signals and intelligence to guide the work rather than thinking our way through it.

Before we begin, we'll have a free 15-minute consultation to make sure we're a good fit and to clarify what you're hoping to get from coaching. From there, we'll co-create a focus and rhythm that feels right for where you are.

Areas I Specialize In

I am passionate about creating space where women can feel seen, just as they are. The work I do is shaped by both rigorous training and my own journey of healing. I've walked through much of this myself, and that informs everything I bring to our work together.

Somatic Trauma Resolution

Healing doesn't require reliving the past. Somatic Trauma Resolution works directly with the nervous system to complete what trauma left unfinished, so you can access greater ease, connection, and aliveness in everyday life.

Psychedelic Integration

The benefits of a psychedelic experience depend less on the substance and more on the context, support, and integration surrounding it. This work helps you prepare your nervous system before and make meaning of what emerged after.
