Join Amy Williams of Felt Sense Psychotherapy in collaboration with Jana Olenio Grgurovic of SUP YO Adventures for a weekend of somatic healing and self-discovery at The Bartlett Village House. On this retreat, we will focus on the role that the nervous system plays in your mental, emotional, physical, and spiritual wellness, and how you can use this knowledge to increase resiliency and vitality in your own life. You will move, breathe, learn, expand and return home with new knowledge and tools that you can start to implement in your daily life. If this resonates with you, please join us for a weekend of connection and ease as we explore emotional well-being from a body-first lens.

Workshop #1: Nervous System Mapping
Empowering yourself with the knowledge and tools to understand your nervous system is essential to healing.
In this workshop, we will learn the landscape of the nervous system through the lens of Polyvagal Theory.
You’ll discover what triggers your survival responses (fight, flight, freeze, fawn) and recognize your ‘glimmers’ - those moments or experiences that shape your system towards safety, peace, and connection. This is achieved without rehashing your past trauma.
Together we will identify what feels safe, understand how trauma responses feel in your body, and equip yourself with the knowledge and skills to navigate them.
Workshop #2: Embody Your Experience
Nature has instilled in all animals, including humans, a nervous system capable of restoring balance.
However, in humans the rational mind often overrides the body’s instinctual response following overwhelming stress and trauma. We try to keep it together and are afraid of losing control.
We may try to selectively close ourselves off to certain emotions. In our attempts to avoid the painful things we experience through our bodies- grief, illness, anger, loneliness, to name a few- we end up sacrificing the good, the beautiful, and the joy.
Using tools from Somatic Experiencing, Embody Your Experience is a workshop designed to support you in resolving symptoms of stress and trauma so you can build a healthier and more stable relationship with your body as a whole. We will learn how to develop an increasing tolerance for difficult bodily sensations and suppressed emotions that will help you discharge stored survival stress and access safety within, no matter what happens around you.
Through psychoeducation, embodiment practices, group discussion and shares, we will discover and experience how to be with your emotions so you can connect with your authenticity and access the beautiful things that come with being fully alive in your body.
Somatic Yoga
Somatic Yoga integrates information from trauma recovery, neuroscience, psychology, and yogic principles to reconnect us with who we are at our core and remind us of our body’s innate ability to heal.
In this gentle yet powerful class, we experiment with vagal toning, mindful movement, and awareness of our inner and outer worlds to aid in rewiring the nervous system out of stuck, outdated trauma responses.
You will learn how to cultivate a felt sense of ease and safety, expand your capacity to handle challenges, and reclaim your ability to efficiently recover from stress, trauma, and overwhelm.
By coming back into your body on your own terms, you begin the process of befriending your inner experience, turning toward your emotions, sensations, and memories in a way that feels manageable and in control. Through listening to these subtle cues of embodiment, you will deepen your understanding of how your body wants to breathe or move in response to what you are feeling.
